Who’s Mark Mitchinson

From a tender age it was clear Mark Carlton Mitchinson was bound for athletic eminence when he was asked to represent Riversdale Primary School as a centreback in the school football team. Mark’s hair and physical presence was enough to deter any budding Michael Owen!

Mark went on to play for Southfields secondary school football team where he achieved accolades of “the player that did the least but was most effective”.

Not content with dominance on the football pitch, Mark quickly took his game to the court. At the age of 16 Mark represented Wandsworth County at basketball, before trialling for Crystal Palace, proving that white men can indeed jump (just not as high!)

In an act of sporting benevolence Mark spared future opponents by entering in to a career in telecommunications where today he is the Vice-President of Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland.

Nile Bike Ride

In 2007, Mark joined forces with his Samsung colleague Robert Staines to cycle 200 miles down the Nile in aid of CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity. This was followed by a star-studded Gala Dinner with the likes of Will Carling and Josh Lewsey hosting the event. All up, around £50,000 was raised for CLIC Sargent, a great success for the charity.

In 1998 Mark survived a full marathon and, after a healthy ten year recuperation period, will be running the Flora London Marathon on 13th April 2008 on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
